The game deserves credit for its freedom: you can pursue any romance as either Alexios or Kassandra, meaning the game fully supports same-sex romances as well as straight ones without restriction. Just be aware, these are mostly one-off romances â fun diversions that might end in a fade-to-black scene or cheeky implication, rather than ongoing relationships with story impact. (The only time the game forces a romance of sorts is in the Legacy of the First Blade DLC, which sparked controversy â but in the main game, itâs all up to you.) If youâre playing Odyssey as an RPG, treat these romantic sidequests as flavor that enhances your role-playing experience. Kassandra can truly be the most eligible bachelorette in Greece if you wish! Overall, AC Odyssey is a massive game with or without the dating, but the flirtatious possibilities add extra charm â proving even a hardened mercenary can find time for love (or at least a fun night) between Spartan battles.

Weâll cap off the main list with a fan-favorite from the Xbox 360 era: Fable III. The Fable series has always emphasized player choice, including marriage and family, but Fable III expands on that formula. In this action-adventure RPG, you are a prince or princess leading a revolution and later ruling the kingdom of Albion. Alongside the main storyline, you can flirt with almost any villager, get married, have children or adopt, and even (if youâre feeling particularly villainous or polyamorous) take multiple spouses in different towns â but be prepared for some drama if they find out about each other! The game allows same-sex and opposite-sex marriages equally, reflecting Albionâs fairly open social norms. You can also marry a co-op playerâs hero, which was a novelty at the time â even having a wedding ceremony together if playing online. Each spouse (NPC) has their own personality and youâll need to keep them happy by providing an allowance and interacting with them. While spouses arenât deeply characterized like a BioWare companion, itâs the sheer freedom and sandbox element that stands out: you can own a house, decorate it, have a baby, and your child will grow up over time. Fable III essentially lets you role-play a whole life. Itâs worth noting this is an older title (2010) and has a more simplistic RPG system, but its charm and humor hold up. If you crave a game with romance and character customization where you can truly shape your destiny â be it benevolent queen with a beloved king consort, or a tyrant juggling lovers â Fable III is a classic worth revisiting.
