League rules

The full rule book. If anything here disagrees with a leaderboard, the leaderboard shows how we actually scored it, so please tell us.

1. Taking part

  1. There is no sign-up. Every character whose runs meet the week’s rules is scored automatically.
  2. Each character competes on its own, on the server it plays on. Playing on two characters puts both on the leaderboard.

2. The week

  1. A league week opens on Monday at 00:00 UTC and closes the following Monday at 00:00 UTC.
  2. Each week names one dungeon and one loadout, the same for every division.
  3. Runs of that dungeon that you start inside the week, on your own and in the week’s loadout, count in the order you start them. Your first 4 such runs are rounds 1 to 4. Later runs are not scored.
  4. Runs in a different loadout, or with more than one player, do not count and do not use up a round.

3. Loadout

  1. The week’s loadout names a weapon type, one or more abilities, or both. When it says an ability “only”, every ability you have equipped must be one it names, so unequip the rest.
  2. Your loadout is checked as it was at the moment you entered the dungeon. Changing it inside the dungeon does not help.
  3. When the week names an item, such as The Vacan-Sealer, it must be equipped when you enter. Your toolbelt counts.
  4. When the week limits your abilities, that also applies during the run. If you pick up or use any other ability inside the dungeon, including a randomly offered one, that run does not count. Equip The Vacan-Sealer to stop random abilities being offered.
  5. Armour, rings, back, belt and necklace are up to you unless the week says otherwise.
  6. If we cannot identify an item, the run is judged on what we can identify and is marked with an asterisk.

4. Scoring

  1. A round’s time is the time you spend inside the dungeon’s rooms, from stepping into the first room to extracting at the end, capped at 60:00.0.
  2. The loading screens between rooms are not counted. Everything inside a room is counted, including the time you spend picking relics or in any menu.
  3. A round you do not finish (DNF: you died or left) scores 60:00.0.
  4. Your total is the sum of your round scores. The lowest total wins.
  5. Ties are broken by the better last round, then the round before, back to round 1.

5. The cut

  1. Rounds 1 and 2 must be started before Thursday at 04:00 UTC. If they are not, you are withdrawn (WD) for the week.
  2. After round 2, the top 50% of each division, plus ties, make the cut.
  3. Players who make the cut must finish all 4 rounds before the week closes, or they are withdrawn.
  4. Players who miss the cut are ranked below everyone who made it, on their round 1 and 2 total.

6. Marks, promotion and relegation

  1. Marks are given after each week closes, in this order. First, making the cut clears one minus mark and missing it clears one plus mark. Then marks are added for where you finished:
Top 7.5% of the division+2
Top 15%+1
Bottom 20%−1
Bottom 10%−2
Started but did not finish every round in time−2
  1. At +3 marks you are promoted one division. At −5 you are relegated one division. Your marks reset to zero when you move.
  2. The winner of a division is promoted whatever their marks.
  3. Nobody is promoted out of the top division or relegated out of the bottom one.
  4. Week 1 is the qualifier. The top 20% go to the Premier Division, the next 30% go to the Challenger Division, the rest start in the Open Division. If you join after Week 1, you start in the Open Division. Everyone plays one leaderboard in the qualifier and nobody gets marks that week.

7. Fair play

  1. Results come from the game’s own server records. There is nothing to submit and no screenshots.
  2. We may remove results that come from exploits, cheating or account sharing, and we may remove a player from the league.
