If your ping is high while exploring the overworld or in your apartment, that’s normal. Here’s how our server system works.
How servers work in Soulbound
Everyone plays together on the same overworld server. That means you can meet and interact with players from all over the world, but it also means your ping in the overworld might sit around 150 to 200ms depending on where you are. The game is built to handle this, so gameplay should still feel smooth.
Dungeons use regional servers
When you enter a dungeon, you’re moved onto a regional server closer to you. We have servers in America, Europe, and Asia. This means your ping will drop significantly for combat, which is where low latency matters most.
If you’re playing with other people, the game will try to place your group on the server that gives everyone the lowest ping. So even in a party with players from different regions, the game picks the best option for the whole group.
Once you leave the dungeon, you’re back on the shared overworld server.
In short
- Overworld and apartments: shared global server, higher ping (normal)
- Dungeons and combat: regional server, lower ping
- Group play: the game picks the best server for your whole party
- The game is designed around this. High overworld ping doesn’t mean something is wrong.
