Update 5.18 – Auction House & Guilds

Reading Time: 8 minutes

This week’s patch is a big one.

We’re thrilled to roll out the long-awaited Auction House and Instant Exchange – two features the team has been playtesting non-stop. They’re game-changers.

The Auction House gives players a true trading hub, letting you sell your rare finds, bid on powerful gear, and create real supply-and-demand tension across the world. And with the Instant Exchange, a whole new layer of the economy comes to life. You don’t need to set a price – the market does that for you. High-volume trades now happen automatically, and resource prices are shaped dynamically by players. That’s exciting for anyone who loves trading, market watching, or just getting what they need without the grind.

But that’s not all.

  • Guilds have launched! For 1000g you can create a guild, build your roster, recruit your friends, and show off your tag in-game. We’ve got huge plans here, with features like Guild Treasuries coming soon.
  • You can now follow players in-game, making it easier to stay connected.
  • There’s a brand-new damage counter to help min-maxers track DPS more clearly.
  • And for new players – there’s now a direct link to the wiki inside the game, making it easier than ever to look things up and learn as you play.

This patch lays the foundation for a living, player-driven economy and stronger social features. We can’t wait to see how you use them.

Features

  • Introducing the Auction House – accessible in Virelda’s South Western PixelBay building.[TECH-9121]
  • Introducing Guilds, where users can manage roles and permissions, invite members, and show a guild tag under their names (1-4 characters) to provide quick identification of guild membership. Players can be invited to guilds through the right click context menu when hovering another player either in-game or in the friends list. This enhances the social and cooperative gameplay experience. [TECH-9139]
  • Introduced in-game guild chat, allowing players to communicate with fellow guild members through a dedicated chat tab if they are part of a guild. Guild chat is opened automatically upon login if a player’s profile includes a guildId. [TECH-9142]
  • Added a new ‘Wiki’ button to the minimap, located next to the world map button, which provides quick access to the game’s wiki for more information and guides. [TECH-9351]
  • Introducing the Leafy Lurker cosmetic set and two pets as the new biweekly cosmetic rewards. The set includes a crown, poncho, skirt, and branch, with variant pets available as green and red moss balls. [DES-2376]

Participants can earn medals, credits, and cosmetic loot boxes, with top performers in 48-hour events receiving pets. [DES-2422]

  • Enhanced bank search functionality allowing players to search items by type keywords such as equipment types and resource types, improving inventory management. [TECH-9387]
  • Added a new setting to limit the number of quests displayed in the active quests HUD to a maximum of 3, reducing clutter and the need for a scrollbar. Players can choose to maintain an ‘infinite’ display in settings to keep all quests visible. [TECH-9147]
  • Updated various stations UI to no longer display learned recipes if the configuration for those recipes has been removed, preventing any possible confusion. [TECH-9400]
  • Added the usage count to the tooltip for recipes to inform players of the number of uses a recipe has when a recipe item drops. [TECH-9461]

  • Updated the Apartment Search feature to display users’ public display names instead of their usernames, improving clarity and identification for players. [TECH-9460]
  • Updated quest progression for the ‘Hack to the Future’ and ‘Everdune Beacon’ quests. Players will now encounter ‘Hack to the Future’ immediately after completing ‘Learning the Ropes’ to obtain the hacking tool from Dr. Fritz before progressing to the ‘Everdune Beacon’. Dialogue updates and quest marker improvements have been implemented to guide players more intuitively through the sequence of tasks. [DES-2158]
  • Fixed the bank system to ensure that items maintain their assigned tabs even after being withdrawn and deposited back. [TECH-9318]
  • Added a new ‘Craftable Only’ filter for stations that displays only the recipes players can currently craft based on skill, materials, and gold. Additionally, recipes that cannot be crafted are now greyed out while still allowing players to view their requirements. [TECH-9240]
  • Improved the spawning mechanics in resource zones to ensure a balanced distribution of nodes over time, addressing previous timing issues. [TECH-9328]
  • A new rentable apartment in Arcadia has been added. [TECH-9534]

  • Improved the visual appearance of player display names by experimenting with new color schemes for better legibility and a more polished look. This includes ensuring readability across varying backgrounds and lighting conditions, while maintaining a balanced aesthetic. [TECH-9420]

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a crash that occurred when attempting to enter the tutorial dungeon with the ready pop-up UI before maintenance began. [KUDOS-292]
  • Resolved an issue where Chakram relics did not appear at higher levels, causing players to receive ‘placeholder’ relics instead. This occurred due to incorrect level IDs being linked. [QA-2516]
  • Fixed an issue where relic refreshers incorrectly triggered a relic reward screen for players who had already selected their relic. [TECH-9321]
  • Fixed a crash that occurred when logging a backend reset error related to player health. [TECH-9385]
  • Fixed a rare error related to the fishing font VolterGoldfish, ensuring consistent text display during the fishing activity. [TECH-9430]
  • Adjusted abilities to initiate casting between 1 to 3 seconds after being unlocked/spawned, reducing the wait time from the previous range which could be up to 22 seconds. This change ensures abilities do not trigger simultaneously while minimizing player delay in dungeons. [TECH-9231]
  • Fixed a crash issue with the mining minigame when the browser tab is closed immediately after interaction. Players should now be able to mine again without getting stuck. [TECH-9429]
  • Fixed an issue where players were spammed with ‘new version available’ notifications when maintenance mode started. [TECH-9466]
  • Fixed an issue where chemistry tables could incorrectly display both infinite charges and 0 charges for the same recipe. Now, native recipes like the health flask will correctly have infinite charges. [TECH-9502]
  • Fixed an issue where crop sprites would not load promptly on farms, making them visible only after interaction. The sprites for crops should now always be visible. [TECH-9005]
  • Fixed a crash issue where the Icecube ability would cause the game to crash when aimed at an enemy that is near death. [TECH-9596]
  • Fixed an issue where hovering over the potion assigned to the ‘Z’ key did not display the potion’s name. [TECH-9255]
  • Addressed several errors causing crashes in various game features including apartment keypads, chests, player health, the mining minigame, fishing font, and state systems. [TECH-9376]
  • Fixed an issue where chests would fail to drop items due to no valid spawn coordinates, causing crashes. [TECH-9382]
  • Corrected a typo in Granny Smith’s dialogue during the ‘Granny’s Gumbo’ quest by changing ‘anywehre’ to ‘anywhere’. [DES-2244]
  • Fixed inaccurate dialogue in the quest ‘Package Deal’ where a reference to a nonexistent van confused players by implying a mechanic or visual element that did not exist. [DES-2245]
  • Fixed an issue where the framerate would drop significantly after returning from a different tab while the player character was idle next to a fire sprite. [KUDOS-299]
  • Addressed an issue where players could not return Molten Leather to Selene due to incorrect UI updates; the quest now requires 7 Molten Leather instead of 1. Legacy players will have the number updated and may need to reset the quest for proper progression. [DES-2412] (Reported by User 01JWCJ0JEEFX2CHJCHE0AVK20V)
  • Fixed an issue where the quest ‘The First Anima’ would incorrectly complete if the dungeon was exited early, allowing progression without fighting Spectra or receiving loot. [DES-2420]
  • Resolved an issue where new players could get stuck in an infinite dialog loop with Major during the ‘Enter the FRAME’ quest due to translation errors. Now, if a translation fails, the system will default to the original English text to prevent progression issues. [DES-2242] Submitted by player BingoBango.
  • Fixed an issue where players were incorrectly spawned in Virelda when extracting or leaving the necromancer boss battle instead of the necro hallway. [QA-2495]

Balance Changes

  • Adjusted damage modifiers for various abilities to improve gameplay balance, this comes off the back of the major changes to upgrades and abilities on Patch 5.17, now we have enough data to make finer tweaks in order to bring the abilities more aligned across the board:
    • SMG:
      • Damage Modifier from 0.08 -> 0.15
      • New Level 2 Upgrade: Dual Wield
      • Base Damage Increase from 1 → 2
      • Upgrades have been shuffled around to provide better progression
    • Machine Gun: Damage Modifier from 0.32 -> 0.5
    • Chain Lightning: Damage Modifier from 0.5 -> 0.6
    • Chakram: Damage Modifier from 0.7 -> 0.8
    • Minigun: Damage Modifier from 0.32 -> 0.4
    • Ice Cube: Damage Modifier from 0.32 -> 0.4
    • Kusarigama: Damage Modifier from 0.7 -> 0.5
    • Blackhole Bomb:
      • Explosion Damage Modifier from 0.5 -> 0.4
      • Tick Damage Modifier from 0.08 -> 0.12
  • Increased drop rates of Flickerfern across multiple nodes, it should now drop more frequently from White Lily, Ancient Root, and Scorchroot nodes. It also has a slightly higher chance to drop from lower level nodes. [DES-2421]
  • Mount speed now overrides all other movement speed buffs, ensuring a consistent 60% speed increase when a mount is equipped, regardless of additional speed modifiers from equipment. This prevents unintended stacking of speed bonuses when using mounts. [TECH-8931]
  • Added 4 new mid-game equipment rewards to specific quests to improve gear options between leaving Virelda and beating Tier 2 bosses. Quests ‘Blind Robbery’, ‘Learning the Ropes’, ‘Leaf it Be’, and ‘When Good Pioneers Die’ now offer additional gear as rewards. [DES-2195]
