Soulbound Bug Bounty Program

Reading Time: 4 minutes

Our Bug Bounty Program was added in update 5.9 and is designed to reward players who help us identify bugs or exploits in our game. The process is simple – submit a valid bug report and, if you’re the first to do so, earn Bug Bounty Credits. These credits are redeemable in our Bug Bounty Vendor for unique cosmetics, mounts, pets, and other special in-game items.

How It Works

  1. Submission
    • When you encounter a bug or exploit, document it thoroughly (include clear steps to reproduce the issue, screenshots, and any relevant logs). Please include information about the DGS you are on when the issue occurred as well. You can find this information by opening the in-game chat and navigating to the System tab.
    • Submit your report through our designated bug submission portal in Discord, by opening a tech support ticket on our official Discord server at https://discord.gg/soulboundmmo or by contacting support directly either in game or at https://support.soulbound.game .
    • Your ticket must be logged by a team member and confirmed as ticketed to qualify.
  2. QA Verification
    • Our QA team will recreate the issue to verify its validity. Issues that cannot be reproduced are not eligible for this program.
    • Once confirmed, the team will then internally assign one of our priority levels described below and the process of fixing the bug will begin.
  3. Reward Criteria
    • Only the first valid report of any given bug or exploit will be rewarded.
    • Bug Bounty Credits are assigned based on the severity label and the impact of the issue. We will inform you of the priority of the issue after the issue has been resolved.
  4. Redemption
    • Once the reported issue has been solved, we will send Bug Bounty Credits directly to your in-game mail according to the priority
    • Earned credits can be redeemed in the Bug Bounty Vendor – where you can choose from unique cosmetic items, mounts, pets, and other rewards at our discretion.

Priority Levels and Severity

Our QA team uses the following priority labels to classify bugs:

  • (Prio 1) S1-P0 Issue is classified as Urgent and must be fixed immediately.
  • (Prio 2) S1-P1 Issue is Major1 – the issue is severe and easy to reproduce with a major impact on gameplay or user experience. The issue must be fixed as soon as possible.
  • (Prio 3) S1-P2 Issue is Major2 – the issue is severe but not easy to reproduce. The issue must be fixed quickly.
  • (Prio 4) S2-P1 Issue is Major3 – the issue impacts user experience in a big way, is severe and easy to reproduce, therefore must be fixed quickly.
  • (Prio 5) S2-P2 Issue is Medium1 – the issue is severe but not easy to reproduce. Because the issue is not easy to reproduce, it does not need to be fixed quickly.
  • (Prio 6) S1-P3 Issue is Medium2 – typically a crash or a very severe graphical issue that is very hard to reproduce, usually requiring very complex steps or specific timed inputs. This category is also used for crashes/major issues that could not be reproduced (and therefore are marked as once). Depending on how difficult the issue is to reproduce, it may be fixed later or closed as Will Not Fix.
  • (Prio 7) S3-P1 Issue is Medium3 – a minor issue that is very visible and easy to reproduce. This issue impacts user experience in the game. It is usually a graphical issue that is minor but occurs in many places or is easy to stumble across. Depending on the impact, it may be fixed later or closed as Will Not Fix.
  • (Prio 8) S2-P3 Issue is Low1 – a severe bug but hard to reproduce due to very specific and complex reproduction steps. Depending on the difficulty, it may be fixed later or closed as Will Not Fix.

Terms and Conditions

  • First Reporter Policy Only the first person to report a specific bug or exploit will receive Bug Bounty Credits. Duplicate reports of the same issue will not be rewarded.
  • Validity Reports must be reproducible and verifiable by our QA team. Issues that cannot be reproduced or are found to be user-specific may not be eligible for rewards.
  • Modifications and Discretion We reserve the right to adjust the Bug Bounty Credits rewards and the list of redeemable items at any time. Additionally, issues may be closed as Will Not Fix at our discretion.
  • Responsible Reporting We expect all participants to follow responsible disclosure guidelines – do not share exploit details publicly until the issue has been resolved. Users found to be exploiting or sharing bugs for personal gain will be ineligible for this program and may receive consequences on their account including a ban from this program, or up to a permanent ban.

Important Clarification: Reward, Not a Process

Please note that our Bug Bounty Program is intended as a gesture of goodwill – not as a formal process that obligates us to respond to every report or to award Bug Bounty Credits to every submission.

  • Discretionary Rewards: All rewards are given at our sole discretion. Even if you submit a valid bug report, you might not receive Bug Bounty Credits if you are not the first to report the issue or if the bug does not meet our internal criteria.
  • No Guarantee of Response: We receive a high volume of bug reports daily, and while we appreciate every submission, we cannot guarantee a personal response or immediate action on every report.
  • No Retroactive rewards: We will not be rewarding retroactively for previous bug reports or exploits filed prior to the bug bounty program.
  • No Follow-Up Obligations: If you do not receive credits or a response from our team, please do not chase us – this is not part of the process. Our evaluation and reward decisions are final and based solely on our internal review.
  • A Gesture of Goodwill: This program is our way of saying thank you for helping us improve the game – it is not a binding service-level commitment to respond to or act on every bug report.

Reminder

The best way to facilitate a timely resolution of your bug reports is to ensure your reports are clear, detailed, and submitted through the proper channels. This program not only rewards you for your vigilance but also contributes to a better gaming experience for everyone.
