Patch Notes

Today’s patch focuses on:

  • Progression & balance improvements
  • Hacking utility rollout
  • UX and bugfixes

Progression & Balance

Progression is currently skewed, with mid-game being the hardest leap. We’ve made broad tuning adjustments to help players transition more smoothly into and through the mid-game.

Hacking Utility

Following last week’s integration of hacking into the resource system, this patch introduces its first major gameplay utilities. Hacking craftables are now available at the manufacturing station, granting knowledge XP. A dedicated hacking station is on the way, along with more improvements. Hacking tools now apply bonuses across all nodes and influence mini-game difficulty as intended.

UX & Bugfixes

A range of fixes and improvements are included above, with more underway. Each patch will continue to prioritize impactful, consistent updates to the player experience.

Features

  • Players can now click on any door in the map to directly navigate to the room view associated with that door, enhancing exploration and navigation experience. [TECH-8998]
  • Introduced a new ultra-rare drop table of accessory pieces when performing gathering actions such as mining, foraging, and fishing. Fishing will require the use of Finnley’s treasure attractor and all nodes require level 25 in their respective skills to hit a table [DES-2080].
  • Added a streamer mode toggle that hides all HUD GUI elements such as the minimap, health bar, quick access menu, and game chat, enhancing stream privacy. Press F5 to toggle visibility, excluding the quest dialog. [TECH-9069]
  • Added hacking crafts to the manufacturing table, including experience rewards for crafting them. Hacking nodes are now tuned to hacking level and hacking equipment – with some adjustments on hacking drop tables. A new fuel source – the power core – can now be found in Super Lockbox nodes with the generator equipped in tools, expect continued balance adjustment of these nodes.

Improvements

  • Implemented unique sound effects for each of the 5 stars on the Death screen. If a player receives a half star, the full star sound will be triggered for consistency. [TECH-9070]
  • The quest ‘Cracks in the Foundation’ will now be accessible only after completing ‘The Everdune Beacon’ quest. Additionally, a new task has been added at the start of ‘Cracks in the Foundation’, requiring players to speak to Valor following a dialogue interaction with Zig. [DES-2131]
  • Improved chat moderation to ensure only offending players and moderators see moderated messages in orange; regular users will only see filtered text in default white and will not see blocked messages. Additionally, players will be chat-timed out after sending 5 blocked or filtered messages within a 5-minute window. [TECH-8993]
  • Improved the spectating experience by removing game over music and dark overlay when spectating party members to maintain immersion in the gameplay. [TECH-8886]
  • Quest details in the quest log have been moved to the right side of the interface where the quest list previously was, with the quest list now hidden behind an expandable button. The quest details section is now scrollable to accommodate larger screen heights. [TECH-8995]
  • Swapped the positions of ‘abilities’ and ‘weapons’ in the upgrade UI to make ‘abilities’ the default opened tab for a better initial user experience. [TECH-9027]
  • Improved quest markers, map indications, and NPC icons for Virelda quests for a more streamlined quest navigation experience. Updated quests to ensure correct quest status, turn in locations, and task requirements, enhancing player clarity and satisfaction. [DES-2127]
  • Adjusted the quests ‘The Farpoint Rift Beacon’ and ‘Summoning Spectra’ to direct players to Takeda in Arcadia, and added Valor to the start of ‘Summoning Spectra’ questline while modifying adjacent nodes. [DES-2151]
  • Clarified the description of the Minigun relic rotation modifier to accurately reflect its effect on rotations, addressing player confusion about its functionality. [DES-2152]
  • Added map indications for all tasks in the ‘Jesse, We Need to Cook’ quest, improving navigation and ensuring players can easily track quest locations on the map. [KUDOS-272]
  • Improved the ‘Sow Much Trouble’ quest to display locations of quest items on the map, enhancing players’ ability to find needed items more easily. [KUDOS-274]
  • Adjusted shadow offsets for various herbs and veins to improve visual alignment and consistency in the game world. [TECH-8936]
  • Improved the backend to support multiple items as requirements for vendor entries, enhancing the complexity and flexibility of item exchanges in the game. [TECH-8933]
  • Farok now sells water (for a small premium).
  • Wefco Mart now stocks purchase units of 10 for the following items: water, eggs, cheese, empty vials, empty flasks, empty stims.
  • Unbound Recall Discs (used in crafting Recall Discs) can now be bought from the Foundation.
  • Many items within station crafting have had their recipe/item rarities adjusted to better reflect the player item progression when viewing the stations crafting interface.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where the T2 Eastern Reach boss did not drop the Bypass Processor Unit, preventing players from progressing in ‘The Tier 2 Bosses’ quest. [KUDOS-269]
  • Resolved an issue where the ‘Open Chest’ UI would duplicate when approaching and hovering over a chest, enhancing user experience by ensuring only a single interaction prompt is displayed. [KUDOS-264]
  • Fixed an issue where cinematic bars would disappear before the beacon orb animation finished when entering a dungeon, ensuring a smoother transition. [GAME-3873]
  • Fixed an issue where resource nodes, including mining, hacking, fishing, and foraging, were sometimes not interactable (”ghost nodes”) due to client desynchronization when the game window was minimized or unfocused. [TECH-9052]
  • Fixed an issue where the black hole bomb ability fails to play the implode sound effect, ensuring the sound now plays correctly during combats. [TECH-8901]
  • Fixed an issue where the recall disk was incorrectly appearing in the dungeon hotbar. [TECH-8925]
  • Fixed a crash in ‘EntityComponentMove’ where parent instance coordinates were accessed without proper checks, causing undefined errors. [TECH-8906]
  • Fixed a crash issue during fishing that occurred at the end of the callback. [TECH-8990]
  • Fixed an issue where the Cactoro miniboss spikes did not despawn when portals appeared, preventing the player moving to the next stage. [TECH-9068]
  • Fixed an issue where increasing the base damage of the Bomb via augment did not affect the ability’s damage. [KUDOS-80]
  • Fixed an issue where the visual size of the Ice Cube’s AoE did not match the actual hit range after equipping a Level 3 relic (+50% AoE) when shader settings were set to ‘low’. [TECH-8833] Submitted by player OniShifter.
  • Fixed an issue where the interaction area to repair the Fairpoint Rift Beacon was incorrectly placed on the stairs instead of the teleport pad or beacon, causing confusion for players attempting to complete the quest. [DES-2123]
  • Fixed an issue where the ‘Outskirt Outlaw’ quest lacked an indicator above the truck, and resolved a bug where mounts would not follow the player when getting onto the truck. [DES-2094]
  • Fixed an issue where the ‘Return the Witch Doctor’ quest task in the ‘Hurting Juice’ quest did not have a map indication, improving navigation for players completing this quest. [KUDOS-271]
  • Fixed an issue where the ‘Bring the Items to Lora’ task in the ‘Blind Robbery’ quest did not display any location on the map, improving the tracking of quest objectives for players. [KUDOS-273]
  • Fixed an issue where the map did not display any location for the task ‘Speak To Granny Smith’ in the ‘Granny’s Gumbo’ quest. [KUDOS-270]
  • Fixed an issue where an error in ‘GuiCharacterCreation’ would occur due to ‘dummy_avatar’ being undefined, preventing the proper display of the avatar creation interface. [TECH-8903]
  • Fixed a crash in the InfoPanelOperationSlot due to undefined properties when calling the reload method. [TECH-8902]
  • Fixed an issue where the quest marker over Granny would not immediately disappear after receiving a quest and exiting the building. [QA-2282]
  • Fixed an issue where the ‘?’ quest marker was incorrectly displayed at Granny Smith’s home at the start of the ‘Granny’s Gumbo’ quest, affecting user experience. [KUDOS-195]
  • Fixed an issue where XP was not being dropped from bosses after being defeated, restoring the intended game progression for players. [TECH-8932]
  • Fixed an issue where the Dragonfly Tracking Shot did not scale with dungeon damage modifiers, leading to inconsistent damage output. [TECH-9021]

Coming Soon

  • Ability Balance: Healing Pulse and Fortify are currently overrepresented in late-game builds. We’re reviewing their power sources and exploring ways to diversify builds. Expect balance updates and new gear/stat options soon.
  • Land Access: Updates are in progress to better guide players toward land ownership at the right point in their progression. We’re aiming to make land easier to find, access, and use. Improvements to land UX are a priority, with wider utility expansion close behind.
  • New Stations: We’re exploring new station types—player input welcome. A poll will be posted soon.
  • Chat: An improved chat UI is currently in development.
  • Item Management: This system hasn’t received much attention historically, but that’s changing. We’ve started removing friction and are committed to streamlining inventory and banking.
  • Resource Zones: Resource generation has been actively adjusted in recent weeks. While changes may feel frequent, we’re working toward a more intuitive skilling progression. Expect continued tweaks.
  • Fishing Expansion: Fishing’s recent integration is just phase one. A progression tree is in development to link it more closely with cooking and expand content depth.
  • Pioneer’s Guild: Contract tasks and rewards have been static for too long. New location specific boards, better tasks, and improved rewards are coming.
  • Trading System: An in-game trading house/auction system is in active development. Details to follow.
  • Group Finding: Finding groups can be difficult, we’re actively working on a system to allow players to find and join other dungeon/raid groups.
